Difference between O-type ball valves and V-type ball valves

There are many types of ball valves, but the basic structure is similar. They all consist of a circular core as the opening and closing component, mainly composed of valve seat, ball, seal ring, valve stem, and other driving devices. By rotating the valve stem 90 degrees, the valve can be opened or closed, and it is used in pipelines for shut-off, distribution, flow control, and changing the direction of medium flow. The valve seat uses different sealing forms according to different working conditions. The ball in the O-type ball valve has a middle through-hole, and the ball has a through-hole with the same diameter as the pipeline diameter. The ball can rotate in the sealing seat, and there is a ring-shaped elastic body on both sides of the pipeline direction to achieve sealing. The ball core of the V-type ball valve has a V-shaped structure, and the valve core is a 1/4 spherical shell with a V-shaped notch, which has characteristics such as large flow, large adjustable range, shear force, and tight closure, especially suitable for situations where fluid substances have fibrous characteristics.

O-type ball valve structure

The O-type ball valve has a ball with a middle through-hole in the valve body, and the ball has a through-hole with the same diameter as the pipeline diameter. The ball can rotate in the sealing seat, and there is a ring-shaped elastic body on both sides of the pipeline direction to achieve sealing. By rotating the ball 90 degrees, the direction of the through-hole can be changed to achieve the opening and closing of the ball valve. The O-type ball valve adopts a floating or fixed design, and the relative moving parts use materials with extremely low friction coefficients for lubrication. Therefore, the operating torque is small, and the long-term sealing of the sealing grease makes the operation more flexible. Its product advantages are as follows:

The O-type ball valve has small fluid resistance

The ball valve generally has two structures, the full-diameter type and the reduced-diameter type. Regardless of which structure it is, the flow resistance coefficient of the ball valve is relatively small. The conventional ball valve is a straight-through type, also called a full flow type ball valve, and the channel diameter is equal to the inner diameter of the pipeline. The resistance loss is only the frictional resistance of the same length of the pipeline. Among all valves, this type of ball valve has the smallest fluid resistance. There are two ways to reduce the resistance of the pipeline system: one is to reduce the fluid flow rate by increasing the pipe diameter and the valve diameter, which will greatly increase the cost of the pipeline system. The other is to reduce the local resistance of the valve, and the ball valve is the best choice for this.

The O-type ball valve is quick and convenient to open and close

The ball valve only needs to be rotated 90 degrees to complete the full opening or closing, so it can be quickly opened and closed.

The O-type ball valve has good sealing performance

Most ball valve seats are made of elastic materials such as polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE), usually called soft-sealed ball valves. Soft-sealed ball valves have good sealing performance, and the surface roughness and processing accuracy of the valve sealing are not very high.

The O-type ball valve has a long service life

Since polytetrafluoroethylene has good self-lubricity and the friction coefficient with the ball is small. Due to the improved processing technology that reduces the roughness of the ball, the service life of the ball valve is greatly improved.

The O-type ball valve has high reliability

One pair of sealing surfaces between the ball and the valve seat will not have problems such as scratches and severe wear. After the valve stem is changed to an internal structure, the hidden danger of the valve stem flying out due to the loose cover under the action of fluid pressure is eliminated. Ball valves with anti-static and fire-resistant structures can be used for oil, gas, and gas transportation pipelines.

V-type ball valve structure

The ball core of the V-type ball valve has a V-shaped structure, and the valve core is a 1/4 spherical shell with a V-shaped notch, which has characteristics such as large flow, large adjustable range, shear force, and tight closure, especially suitable for situations where fluid substances have fibrous characteristics. Generally, the V-type ball valve is a single-sealed ball valve and is not suitable for bidirectional use.

The V-shaped edge of the ball valve cuts off impurities. During the rotation of the ball, the V-shaped blade of the ball is tangent to the valve seat, thereby cutting off fibers and solid substances in the fluid. Ordinary ball valves do not have this function, which easily leads to fiber impurities getting stuck during closure, causing great inconvenience for maintenance and repair. The valve core of the V-type ball valve will not be stuck by fibers. In addition, due to the use of flange connections, disassembly and assembly are simple, and no special tools are required, making maintenance easy. When the valve is closed, the V-shaped notch and the valve seat produce wedge-shaped scissor action, which not only has self-cleaning function but also prevents the ball core from getting stuck. The valve body, valve cover, and valve seat all use metal point-to-point structure, and the valve stem spring with a small friction coefficient is also used. Therefore, the operating torque is small and stable.

The V-type ball valve is a direct 90-degree rotary structure, which can realize flow adjustment. According to the V-shaped angle of the V-ball, different degrees of proportionality can be achieved. The V-type ball valve is generally used with valve actuators and positioners to achieve proportional adjustment. The V-type valve core is most suitable for various adjustment occasions, with a large rated flow coefficient, large adjustable ratio, good sealing effect, sensitive adjustment performance, small volume, and can be installed vertically or horizontally. It is suitable for controlling gases, steam, liquids and other media. The V-type ball valve is a direct 90-degree rotary structure composed of a V-type valve body, pneumatic actuator, positioner, and other accessories; it has an inherent flow coefficient that is approximately equal to a certain percentage; adopts a double bearing structure, has a small starting torque, and has excellent sensitivity and response speed, and super shear strength.
